If we make it through October,

We may see a sight.

With all of autumn's light exhausted,

Soon will come year's night,

For in a bright and flooding blush––

Leaves will catch a gale,

And pull, and pull, and pull again,

Till Autumn’s ship must sail.

But before it clears the harbor,

Colder wind will blow.

In the turning of October,

Sweet vanilla snow.
